A Home for the Practice
Envisioned as the eventual home of Arcturus, the studio establishes a design direction for the practice’s future. More than an office, it is conceived as an inhabited expression of the firm’s values: openness, rigor, craft, and a meaningful relationship between thought and making. Within an existing industrial shell, exposed structure and building systems are retained as evidence of the space’s history, then balanced by precise interventions in timber, stone, steel, glass, and landscape. The result is a workplace that feels both grounded and aspirational, distinctly Arcturus, yet open to evolution.
Where Thinking Becomes Making
At the center of the concept is a direct connection between studio and workshop. Design desks, pin-up surfaces, material libraries, model-making tables, digital fabrication equipment, and hand tools form a shared ecosystem, allowing ideas to move continuously between drawing, testing, and construction. Conference rooms and informal meeting areas support collaboration, while the lobby, break room, and quieter support spaces bring hospitality and ease to the working day. Rather than separating creative thought from fabrication, the studio makes their interdependence visible, creating a place where architecture can be questioned, refined, and ultimately brought into form.
