Residential Work

Hawai'i Kai-O
Framed By Light And Landscape
The residence is conceived as a series of quiet thresholds shaped by deep overhangs, textured stone, and warm timber surfaces that soften the transition between architecture and landscape. A restrained horizontal roof plane anchors the home against the tropical backdrop while moments of compression and openness create a measured sense of arrival throughout the site. Rather than imposing on the environment, the architecture settles into it, allowing vegetation, filtered daylight, and material texture to become part of the lived experience.

Warmth, Texture, And Restraint
The interiors are defined by a restrained material palette of natural stone, richly toned wood, soft linen textures, and muted lighting intended to evoke warmth without excess. Spaces are designed to feel immersive and intimate, balancing openness with moments of quiet retreat. The result is an atmosphere that feels grounded and tactile, where materiality, proportion, and light become the primary language of the interior experience.

Courtyards As Living Space
Outdoor spaces are treated not as residual zones, but as extensions of the interior atmosphere. Layered planting, framed garden views, and covered terraces create a sequence of spaces that blur enclosure and openness while maintaining privacy and calm. Glazing dissolves the boundary between inside and out, allowing natural light, shadow, and landscape to shape the rhythm of daily life throughout the home.

This home was conceived as a quiet dialogue between architecture and nature, where warmth, light, and restraint shape an atmosphere of calm retreat
